Overview
Susan Spira is a lawyer who focuses on a wide array of diverse real estate transactions, having developed more than 20 years of intensive experience in the field. And after 10 years at one of the top law firms in the world, and many years as the senior in-house lawyer for a life sciences REIT overseeing acquisitions and dispositions, developments, and the REIT’s confidentiality matters and privacy program, Susan wanted to focus on more diverse middle market transactions. She represents buyers and sellers of commercial, industrial and multifamily properties, and lenders and borrowers in real estate loan transactions. She has worked in nearly every phase of commercial real estate development, from due diligence to drafting and negotiation of complex purchase and sale transactions, loan documents, and property management agreements.
Susan has an extensive background in commercial leasing, including build-to-suit leasing, having focused on office leasing (including Class A office leasing, medical office leasing, and business park leasing), industrial (warehousing/distribution) leasing, and retail leasing, across all disciplines and geographic regions (domestically and internationally). She has worked on all aspects of hundreds of widely varied commercial and industrial real estate transactions, with a primary emphasis on acquisitions, dispositions, financing, institutional asset portfolio acquisitions, and of course, commercial leasing.
Susan has represented lenders and financial institutions, institutional investors, pension funds, opportunity funds, fund advisors, asset and capital managers, family offices and family owners, law firms, gyms, restaurants, franchisors, developers, chemical companies, regional banks, movie theater operators, physician groups, grocery store chains, and many other small and large landlords and tenants.
