Owen’s practice focuses on a wide range of sophisticated real estate transactions which involve the leasing, acquisition, disposition, design, development, construction, ownership, and financing of all types of local, regional, national, and international real estate projects. Over the past two decades, Owen has represented a diverse variety of domestic and international clients ranging from Fortune 50 companies to successful entrepreneurs. Based upon his vast experience with all aspects of real estate projects and clients of all types and sizes, Owen’s clients have come to rely on him to advise them on both the legal and non-legal terms of transactions, appropriately manage their risk, develop creative approaches to resolve complex problems, and bring a deal-oriented and hands-on approach to each matter in which he is involved. - Represented publicly traded biotechnology company in connection with lease and sublease of approximately 330,000 square feet of office space in California.
- Represented an online legal services provider in connection with lease of a 49,000 square foot office space in California.
- Represented an international river cruise operator in connection with a lease of a 35,000 square foot office space in California.
- Represented a private business college in connection with multiple leases of educational facilities, campus locations, and office space in California.
- Represented a publicly traded new media company in connection with a lease of a 34,000 square foot office space in Washington.
- Represented an advertising company in connection with the leasing of satellite offices in Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, and Dallas.
Representative Retail Lease Transactions:
- Represented an owner in connection with the lease to an international retailer of a 16,000 square foot retail space in California.
- Represented international entertainment company in connection with multiple leases for more than 85,000 square feet of entertainment space in Florida and Tennessee.
- Represented a regional retail bank in connection with the leases of multiple locations in California.
- Represented publicly traded single price point retailer in connection with the leases of multiple locations in California and Texas.
- Represented regional mall operators in connection with numerous retail leases, as well as advising such operators in connection with ongoing leasing, management, and development activities.
Representative Industrial Lease Transactions:
- Represented publicly traded single price point retailer in connection with leases of more than 350,000 square feet of warehouse space in California.
- Represented national video game rental service company in connection with leases of more than 40,000 square feet of warehouse space in California, Washington, Florida, and Texas.
Representative Acquisition and Disposition Transactions:
- Represented a regional mall operator in connection with the $26,000,000 acquisition of a 100,000 square foot regional shopping center in California.
- Represented a biomedical company in connection with the acquisition of multiple office and laboratory building locations totaling approximately 270,000 square feet in California.
- Represented an owner in connection with the $12,900,000 disposition of an apartment complex in California.
- Represented an owner in connection with the $3,775,000 disposition of vacant land in California.
- Represented a private business college in connection with the $2,700,000 acquisition of a 32,000 retail building in California (including related financing).
- Represented an owner in connection with the $7,200,000 disposition of two (2) retail condominiums in California.
Representative Financing Transactions:
- Represented a regional mall operator in connection with multiple CMBS loans totaling in excess of $55,000,000 secured by retail locations in California.
- Represented the borrower in connection with the short-sale/guaranty deficiency workout pertaining to a $16,000,000 loan secured by property located in California.
- Represented the borrower in connection with a $9,500,00 deed-in-lieu transaction involving four (4) retail parcels in Georgia.
- Represented the borrower in connection with a $9,600,000 mezzanine loan pertaining to a shopping center complex in California (as well as the conversion of such mezzanine financing into equity).
- Represented international and regional banks in connection with numerous loan originations, work-out, and loan modification transactions.
