Overview

Richard has litigated a broad range of matters in state and federal courts, arbitrations, mediations, and administrative proceedings that encompass all areas of business and real estate litigation including, matters involving bad faith insurance, construction defects, entertainment, employment, and contract disputes.

Prior to joining Shoreline, Richard was a litigation associate at Glaser, Weil, Fink, Jacobs, Howard, Avchen & Shapiro, LLP.

Representative Matters

  • Represented a world-renowned architect in a $22 million breach of contract dispute with a former business partner. A two-week trial ended in a favorable judgment of non-suit for the client.
  • Part of the trial team that represented a luxury California resort that pursued construction defect claims against the general contractor and subcontractors and defended against over $40 million in change order and delay claims.  Very favorable settlements were reached against the general contractor and the insurers on the eve of and during trial.
  • Represented a large talent agency in various lawsuits, including defending an action brought by a movie star for unpaid royalties, as well as defending against a former employee’s unlawful termination claims.
  • Represented a large toy company against copyright infringement, trade secret theft, and other claims brought by the world’s largest toy manufacturer.
  • Represented a Hollywood studio in prosecuting a breach of financing agreement by an international film company.
  • Defended a corporation dealing in casino/hotel amenities programs against product diversion claims brought by a leading hair care company.
